Since I don't like to actually do new years resolutions. Ya know, fear of failure and all that.
But I recently (like 5 minutes ago) read an email about photographers doing a picture of the day blog. I love the idea and think it would be great. Many people have said how they could really see their photos take shape through the year and how it has helped them to find opportunities every day to take better photos. So I plan to do that. Every day. Should be fun!
So I'm looking forward to starting that in January. Now I can't say I'll post every day but I will post a photo for every day and a seperate post for each.

Are you ready for Christmas?
Cause I sure am! I have all my shopping done. And now it's just the waiting. Oh the waiting will kill me for sure. We got Lily some pretty fun stuff. Last year we got her one very little thing since she really didn't have a clue what was going on. But this year, oh this year I had fun shopping. In fact if it were in my budget I'm pretty sure there would have been more under that tree for miss Lily. I got her pots and pans and fruits/veggies and all kinds of fun stuff.
And now it's just the waiting. I hope she opens presents like her mother....just rip right into them. Cause I know she'll love everything she's getting from us and all her wonderful family!
Only 10 more days!

Winter Nights and Lights
Well this year we took the Girl to our local winter parade. It was fun! The weather wasn't terrible, barely any wind which was a nice change from the norm. We got there about a half hour before the parade started. Got our usual spot. I brought the cocoa and some treats for the girl. The parade started. It was wonderful! I could tell Lillian really got a kick out of all the floats and the people in costumes. We didn't get much candy but that's ok cause she really doesn't eat a whole lot of candy, just the occasional m&ms. We kept warm and she got to try out her snowsuit that I picked up at a garage sale for $1. Yup you read that right, a perfectly fine snow suit for $1. It fits her well and she stayed plenty warm. Warmer than me who forgot to put on an extra pair of socks and pants under my jeans and snow boots. I guess I was just more focused on making sure the girl didn't freeze that I forgot about myself. Thankfully we all survived. A nice tradition. We had wanted to take her last year but it was just a little too cold out there for a 6 month old then.
The rest of the weekend we really just did a whole lot of nothing. I got a few more pages of my scrapbook done. I'm on like lily's 6th month now. Though I'm missing halloween pictures and fall pictures. I'm sure I have them somewhere, only God knows where though. So I will have to order some more. Adam played X box all weekend. A very laid back weekend, we don't seem to get them often enough these days.

I love my Fridays.
Baby napping. A little bit of WifeSwap and a new blog entry. What could be better? Oh yeah, a clean kitchen/dining room and living room. All of which I did this morning. Laundry is going and the oven is cleaning itself.
There is something to be said about the relaxed feeling of calmness (is calmness a word? I didn't think so) that follows after you get a ton of stuff done and you don't have to do anything but enjoy it.
Miss Lily and I do need to run some errands today but I'm not sure I'm feeling it. She doesn't really need those diapers does she?
Tomorrow we are going to our local winter holiday parade. I'm pretty excited about it. Adam and I try to go every year as one of our traditions. Last year, however, Miss Lily was only 6 months old and she wouldn't have gotten much out of it not to mention we would have had to try to bundle her up and take her out in the cold. But this year. I can bundle her up and chase her around the sidewalk for a while to keep us both warm. It's supposed to be decent tomorrow. Right around 30 degrees so hopefully the wind stays down and we'll have a grand time.
The rest of the weekend we really don't have anything planned which is nice. Just stay home and watch some movies or something. Should be nice.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Chore Charts and other Boring Junk
So anyone who knows me probably knows that I am the "only clean really good when company is over type". I mean we don't live in complete filth or anything but it's no where near as clean as it should be. My worst enemy are the dishes. I despise doing dishes. I don't know why either. I mean it's not like they take a long time, it's not like it's hard. We have a dishwasher so it can't be that either. But I honestly think I would rather do anything besides doing the dishes. My other arch nemesis is the laundry. I don't mind washing and drying the laundry but folding/ironing and putting it away take time and usually I'm tired by the time I get upstairs to do it.
So ANYWAY, the point of this is. I need a system. Like, Tuesdays I clean the bathroom, Sundays I do laundry etc. But I'm not sure where I start. Obviously Adam isn't thrilled with the idea of a chore chart. He would rather I just tell him what to do. So What if I made a chore chart and just told him what to do and when. That could work right? I mean besides the fact that he'll see this post I don't see why he'd even have to know where WAS a chore chart.
So tell me, What's your system? Cause Lord knows I need one.

So What Did We Do On Thanksgiving You Ask?
Ok so no one asked. But I'll tell you all (all 3 of you) anyway. We got up bright and early, like 7:30. Actually that's kind of late for us since the girl is usually an early riser. But the point remains the same. We all got dressed and ready and I brought Lily downstairs to get her dressed and put some Elmo on (that is like magic in our house) while she ate her breakfast and I got a few things packed up and ready to go. Adam was pretty surprised to come down the stairs and see Miss Lily sitting by herself on the couch wrapped in a towel with a banana in one hand watching Elmo on the laptop while I was in the kitchen. Oh well. You gotta do what you gotta do right?
So we left to go to my parents. Lily was pretty excited to get there, when she saw where she was she clapped her hands. It was very nice to see all the family. All my grandparents and of course my parents. So we ate a delicious meal there and then headed to Adam's aunts house for dessert and to visit for a while. Lily napped in the car. We got to his Aunts and visited for a while. The girl always stays busy so we don't worry about her too much. Left and got home about 8 or so, so not too far off of bedtime which was nice.
When I thought about it, Lily got to see every single one of her grandparents and great-grandparents that day. All 8 of them! How cool is that? She's a pretty lucky little girl and that's something to be thankful for I think. And we're pretty lucky too!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I just wanted to take a minute to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! It is the time of year where we realize what's important to us and what we are thankful for. So let's do that.....and eat turkey!

My 18 Month Old...
...will sing twinkle twinkle little star right along with you. Even though she doesn't sing the real words her version is much more interesting and much cuter than the original.
...can say more real words than I could make a list of without forgetting a bunch. She has exploded with new words and new things she can do in the last few months, it's been exciting and tiring for all of us!
...says 'Daddy?' when she is with me and 'Mommy?' when she is with daddy. She always wants to know where we are.
...has taken her interest inElmo Melmo to a whole new level. We are now subjected to watching videos of him.
...has her 8 front teeth a right bottom molar and working on a top right molar too.
...loves her 'puppy' and he is certainly learning to love her too. Especially since she will scratch his tummy for him.
...goes to sleep at 7:30pm and sleeps until about 6:15am. And takes about a 1.5-2 hour nap in the afternoon.
...has had her nails painted a few times and she loves them
...loves to read her stories to you. Turning each page and reading them one at a time.
...can throw a mean tantrum and has spent some time in time out already. Usually just a warning is enough to get her to stop though.
...is loved by all. We have been told so many times how good she is and how easy she is to take care of by many different people. This fact makes me worry for her Teen years. Surely she won't stay this way right? It's ok, I know I'm doomed.

Man I struggles at the end there. I mean really. I didn't realize how hard this would be. Give it a shot and see if you can do it!
It's a long one, so brace yourselves.
I really haven’t had much to talk about lately. I feel like there is a lot going on but when I sit down and try to put it into words it just doesn’t work. Not sure what is up with that. It never rarely happens that I am speechless. I mean I can always come up with something to babble on and on about.
The girl is good. She is learning more and more everyday. Sometimes I really can’t even believe she is the same little baby we brought home from the hospital. Though I am sure most parents feel that way. This is a fun time though. She learns so much everyday. Her latest favorite thing to do is “cooking” so we can “eat”. I actually usually let her sit up on the counter with me when I am preparing dinner. It’s really important to me to have her in the kitchen and learn her way around. It’s an important skill to have in life. Also helps with math and junk. But she’s a little young to be working on the fractions, so I measure, she pours. Then we stir together. In fact I usually give her, her own “bowl” and “poon” and she does her own thing. But she will never ever let the chance go to tell me she is “cooking”. Such a big girl. The other day I was brave and let her add the pepper to the bowl. She did well, I think she’s a natural.
In the adult world we are trucking along. I’m not a huge fan of my job and have pretty much ruled out the possibility of doing the daycare thing. I mean if I can’t rationalize the space for US to have one more baby then I certainly couldn’t expect 10 kids to have enough room to play and sleep. Plus that is a pretty huge chance that you really can’t go backwards on. I love kids and all but when my one kid is whining and fussy I get frustrated. Though for some reason it seems less annoying when it’s not your kid. Anyway, so that’s marked off the list. I think in the end I’d love a job I could do from home. But they are very few and far between around here. Heck I’ve just been looking for other jobs in general and they are few and far between. It’s a tough market out there. So I guess for now I am trying to focus on how lucky I am to even have a job right now. The pros completely outweigh the cons, which makes it that much harder to want to make a change. I mean my boss here is pretty flexible and when you have kids, you need that. Especially since Adam’s job just isn’t.
Hmm what else. Well, Adam and I decided to paint one of our living room walls. I STILL haven’t chose a color and I probably won’t until I’m standing in front of the paint chips at the store. It’ll look great I’m sure, our living rooms needs some color badly so I’m excited about it. Of course I’ll post some photos when it’s all done.
Guess I had more to babble about than I thought.

Few and Far Between.
So I haven't had a photography session in a while. So I thought I'd post some pictures. Last night we had 2 year old Savannah. She was less than thrilled to have her photos taken by me, but her parents were troupers and easy to work with. We still got some great pictures even if she doesn't realize it.
Don't tell anyone that little miss Savannah was actually trying to reach the light in the ceiling. It made for a cute picture and she smiled! Which is the main point!
Such a great family! Of course I did all these photos in singles but only posted the collages to condense it a bit.
The Famous Apple Bucket!
While I took photos, Adam and the girl went out to eat together! They had a good time at Buffalo Wild Wings. Then a nice trip to Target to get Adam some much needed new shoes. They even brought me flowers. Roses. A whole dozen. And from what I hear Lily had to smell them a million times. That's my girl. They do smell lovely!
The Famous Apple Bucket!
She really just wanted nothing to do with taking photos. Little does she know her resistance made it all that much cuter!

Confession: Mommy guilt edition
OK, I admit it. I don't feel the mommy guilt probably near as much as I should. For the most part I am perfectly fine with working (mostly) full time. Sometimes I even enjoy going to work for the mere fact that it's HARD being a mom. It's hard to take care of a family and try to keep the house in order. Sure I don't do it alone by any means but it's still hard, and these days work is a bit of a break for me.
But this morning....this morning was different. I was getting ready to leave as I normally do. The girl wanted a cuddle (normally can't even get a "uggie" out of her in the morning) and she held on. She held on tight, like I was about to leave her for good. SO I held on too. We cuddled as long as I possibly could. We cuddled while I put my shoes on even. Then I handed her to Adam so she could cuddle with daddy. And she screamed. "mommy....mommmmmyyyyyy....mommy" And my heart broke. Oh what I would have given to stay with her for 5 more minutes and cuddle.
This morning was hard. Of course as I suspected as soon as I was actually gone she was fine. Sat nice with Adam and watched AquaTeen Hunger Force.

Where did my baby go?
It's become painfully obvious lately that the girl is no longer a baby. But in fact a full fledged little girl. She talks. Real words even. The girl is very polite with "Peez" and "anks" when she wants something. She will ask for help if she needs it. "elp" She will tell you she wants to "eat" She will tell you when she goes potty "poo". When it's time to go somewhere this little girl brings you her shoes and is pointing and read for her "K" (that means coat for you who don't speak little monster girl language). She asks for more "Juice" and will tell you she wants "up" to drink it. For some reason when she is frustrated she will just repeat MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY over and over again like she is dying.
It may not seem like much but it seems everyday she picks up new words and new habits. Her latest new adorable habit is licking her finger when she's reading a story. Of course, that's how mommy turns the page so it only makes sense Ms. Lily would too. I mean I do most of the story reading around the Philippi house.
She barely wants cuddles before bed anymore, in fact she will just repeat "peez" over and over again while I try to cuddle her so she can just go into her crib. And it makes me sad that she doesn't want me to cuddle and sing to her. But I suppose it's only natural. As she gets older it's obvious she would notice how terrible my singing voice is...But I was still hoping for just a little more time.
And while I LOVE the girl in this stage, it too, is passing far too quickly. She is changing rapidly. Developing even more personality and spunk. It's fun when she does something and we say to each other, "She gets that from you!" I, of course, like to think that she really does have the best of both of us....but she has picked up a few things from us that are less than desirable too. She picked up my temper. The girl wants it and she wants it now, and she's a yeller too. Which she also got from me. But she is stubborn and I fully believe she gets that from her daddy. She has learned the limp noodle move now when she doesn't get what she wants. But she has also gotten some pretty cool stuff from us. She has my love of talking (all who know me can testify to that) and will babble nonstop whether you are listening to her or not. And she has our sense of humor. The girl thinks she's hilarious feeding the puppy her cheerios when she knows she's not suppose too and we let her cause she giggles her head off over it. (and yes, I tried to post video of that one, stupid blogger)
She's a pretty amazing little girl. And I know that we both love her so much and really couldn't imagine what life would be like with out her. I mean, we might actually have to spend time together....alone. Gulp. Kidding....Mostly.

Happy Halloween!
Lily with her Auntie Sarah. You gotta admit, the girl has pretty good form for being 17 months old don't ya think?
Playing the piano. As with everything, she was pretty danty with the keys. I hope she keeps this interest when she is old enough to actually learn to play. Fingers crossed for my future piano player!
Her costume from the back. I love the wings, this little sweater worked perfectly too for holding the halo on better!

It's a mad house really.
So we had a fabulous weekend in the Philippi house. Friday Lily-mons and I went and had lunch and shopping with my mom and then I left her there. Got cleaning done, hung out with Adam without arguing about stupid stuff. Had a nice dinner on Sunday with the family and brought Lily home. Her rash is almost gone and she is sleeping way better (thank God!). But we are not. Why you ask? Adam has the flu. Who gives a rats behind which KIND of flu, it's the flue nonetheless. So he hasn't been sleeping well, which means I haven't been sleeping well, which also means I can't come up with anything good to write about. This is it. (notice, I always have some sort of excuse for my lack of wit)
Hopefully Lily and I will escape without getting sick, Adam will get better and we can get things back to normal SOON. Cause really I'm going insane. So if you don't hear from me in the next few days...send the guys in the white jackets.

Did I ever tell you guys what Mooey meant?
Well I realized the other day what it means. She says it when she sees a kitty cat. So I'm guessing she thinks that is what a cat says. But it seems her vocabulary is ever expanding these days. She now says Please, cookie, mooey, moon, hi and bye bye. Along with a few other new words I can't think of right now. So add that to my previous list of words she says and she has a pretty decent word list right now. So proud of her. When she wants something she nods yes and says "Peez" (which of course is Please for those of you that don't speak Lily).
If (oh who am I kidding, WHEN) she misbehaves we have introduced the timeout to her recently. And she gets it. She really does. Which surprises me. Now usually all I have to do is tell her it's her first warning and if she does it again she will have a timeout. A whole whopping minute and a half but I'm sure for her that seems like an eternity of sitting there by the basement door with NO toys and not within sight of the TV or her baby and the baby's bottle. Heck most of the time when I mention the word timeout she goes and sits by the door. Even if she didn't do anything. Such a silly girl. She finds it funny cause she brings her toys with her. Well she doesn't find an actual timeout so funny. She's growing up so fast.

Pumpkin Carving for the Toddler.
Ok so the pictures are backwards with the finished product being on top and I am FAR too lazy to rearrange them now so enjoy them as they are!
Lily's punkin'. She finger painted it all by herself, all the way around. Even though I'm pretty sure the rain/snow we've been getting will make it all wash off (thank goodness for washable paint) she had fun doing it and that's all that matters. And I did get pictures of it anyway!
Miss Lillian painting her punkin'. This, Like everything else in her life, she was very dainty about. She only gets paint where she intends it to go. None on her clothes or her body other than her hand.
Think she's trying to make a smiley face here. Who knows what goes through the mind of a toddler though. Either way she got mad when we were done and I put the paint away. Poor thing.
She has begun smiling again for the camera, which makes this amateur photographer who's primary subject is her, VERY VERY happy.
This was the pre-punkin' decorating. She did not like the guts of the big ones we carved and was terrified of the finished products too. But had no problem with her pumpkin in the least.
I'm kinda sad that it's looking like we aren't going to get to the Orchard this year because of the weather, it's been so rainy and cold here that we just opted to get our pumpkins at Cub this year. Probably cheaper too and they were perfect!
We interupt this program....
for an unscheduled visit to the Dr. Yup, you read that right. Lillian had her first visit to the Dr. that wasn't for a well visit or for shots. In fact I think she was confused when we left there without getting poked with 4 needles. For the past few weeks the girl has had a pretty bad diapie rash. Now I really didn't think too much of it since she does get rashes easily when she is getting teeth etc. But this one was different. It lasted FOREVER and despite my best attempts at max strength cream, frequent diaper changed, soda bathes and TONS of nakie time it was just getting worse. So we went in. The girl has a yeast infection. Poor thing. No wonder she's been sleeping like crap lately. She's been itchy and burning and sore and it probably wakes her up at night.
So we get to put athletes foot cream on her bottom. For some reason I find that amusing even though it's really not.
One night of cream and she already looked better this morning. And the doctor told us the signs and said it was fine to go ahead and buy over the counter and treat if it happens again. I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come for when she's an adult.
Happier post to follow...With pictures!

My 16 month old....
...runs most of the time instead of walking.
...says a lot of words including some we have yet to learn the meaning of (mooey? Booey?) But most importantly she finally says Mommy.
...feeds herself really well with a spoon/fork
...eats pretty much anything you put in front of her, excluding tomatoes and corn.
...has finally learned the kitchen is not hers to play in thanks to the baby gate.
...loves the "puppy" with all her little heart and wants to give him treats every 5 minutes.
...would rather play outside than anything else.
...enjoys emptying and refilling her shoe bin over and over again.
...would wear her snow boots around the house and everywhere she goes.
...loves dancing and "shaking her groove thang".
...thinks she is the funniest person that ever lived and I tend to agree.
...is still our constant source of entertainment.
...has started sleeping less at night. i.e. waking up earlier but this doesn't seem to affect her really.
...has a pretty nasty bruise on her forehead from an incident with the dog and the sidewalk. Which incidentally ruined any pictures I wanted to take of her this month. Still trying to decide if I should post pictures of said bruise for the world to see or not.
...is loving giving us hugs and kisses without being prompted.
...learns something new every single day and I certainly can't keep up with it so I'm sure I've missed some things in this post.

Lily's 15 month appointment (even though she's almost 16 months)
She had her appointment on Friday. As usual her appointment was at 2 and we didn't get in and actually see a doctor until like 2:30 or so. BUT. The girl is healthy. 22 pounds 12 ounces (which puts her in exactly 50th percentile) 31.5 inches tall. (coincidentally also 50th percentile) And of course her head still hovers are right about 75th percentile.
She got four shots and had a hard recovery from that and the Dr. suggested she get her hemoglobin tested again since she was on the very low end of healthy range last time so just to make sure she's not heading in the wrong direction with her heart condition and all. So that entailed another finger prick (she had a rough day) But otherwise, she could do all the things the dr. asked about and seems to be a smidge ahead on a few things too.
She goes back in December and then she won't have any more shots (other than flu shots) until she is 4! So wonderful.
It's also set that she will see the pediatric cardiologist when she turns two also...though I'm sure he won't have anything new to say about her since her primary always says her heart sounds the same.

Finally, A photo session.
So I finally had a photography Session. This one is with Danielle and Maddie. I've done their photos before (Maddie's 18 month pics) Here is a little sampling of Maddie's 2 year pics! Thanks again guys! As always these are my most favorite ones.
